Birthdays and Plantpots!
Yesterday morning was wet and drizzly and a bright-eyed Genie rose to another birthday consisting of presents, cards, the inevitable and… eventually… roses and sunshine.
Dinnertime saw a trip out to Tewitfield, to the north of Carnforth with Maggie and Father and an excellent meal at the Longlands Hotel. Afterwards, when Genie had consumed her melon followed by that word I can never spell – lasagne and myself thick soup and salmon, we all set out for a walk in the sunshine.
This took us down along the M6 and up to the disused canal that runs alongside [insert picture here… eventually] and up along locks which have now turned into waterfalls. The warmth of the day increased a little and we arrived back to dear old blighty and a local pub for a pint of mild. I left Genie in the aforementioned pub and paid my respects to the bank in town before making my way back to my pint. Genie has received a text from J & C, good friends of ours, to go to a party. A little later saw another pub and a pint of cider – Genie relinquished and had a half of lager.
Home again Genie we had a bit of a kip, rose again, ate some stew. Indigestion caught me a stinker and Genie left for her party(!). A phone call some fifteen minutes later and Genie was on her way back – the party was for tomorrow night and she had read her text wrong… plantpot! There was a calling to bed a short while after – I was already reigning in the zeds by the time Genie arrived home – be it in my clothes.
